Thunder shower brings down temperature in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Rain and thunder showers lashed most parts of coastal, north and central Odisha this afternoon bringing relief to the people from the intense heat and humidity of the last few days.

Talking to OTV, Mamata Yadav, Director-in charge, Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar said a trough line has formed over North Rajasthan across the Odisha coast. Under its influence, there would be rainfall in most parts of Odisha till next week.

Reports said there were widespread rain and thundershower in Kandhamal, Khurda, Cuttack, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Boudh and Keonjhar districts.

People in the twin city of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar heaved a sigh of relief after rain and thundershower lashed the cities for about an hour in the afternoon.

As per a Met release this evening, Bhawanipatna was the hottest place in the state today with 42.5 degrees while temperature remained at 40 degree Celsius and above in 9 places in Jharsuguda (41), Sambalpur (41.1), Sundergarh (40), Hirakud (41.1), Talcher (40.1), Balangir (41.5), Titlagarh (42), Malkangiri (41.4) and Sonepur (41.1).
