Tata Steel Bhubaneswar Half Marathon on Jan 8

Bhubaneswar: Tata Steel, in association with Sports and Youth Services Department, government of Odisha is organizing Half Marathon here on January 08, 2017.

Commemorating National Youth Sports Day, this annual event is being organized for the second year in a row.
Officials said the event will cover a distance of 21.1 km. Starting from Kalinga stadium, the participants will run towards Khandagiri square and return to end at the starting point. Apart from the 21.1 kms Half Marathon, 10 Kms run for institutions, colleges and corporate houses and 5 kms run for school students (upto 12th standard) will be organized. The reporting time for all races will be 5:30 am.

State-of- the-art technology consisting of Timing Mats and its control units, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips, split timing mats on route, tracking camera, wi-fi network on route as per international standard will be used to ensure a world standard conduct of the marathon.

Arun Misra, vice president, project Gopalpur and MD, Tata Steel Special Economic Zone said Tata Steel intends to bring such international level sports experience to the people of Odisha and to motivate them to explore professional sports as a career.

While awards worth Rs 9, 14,000 will be given to winners in different categories, there will be awards in three different categories with the highest prize money of Rs 1,00,000 going to each of the winners (men and women category) of the 21.1kms run.

Registrations can be done online at www.tatasteelbbsr-run.com from November 29, 2016 and physical registration at the counter at Kalinga Stadium, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, starting from December 6, 2016.

The registration fees for half marathon, 10 kms run and 5 km runs will be Rs 300, Rs 200 and Rs 100 respectively. The last date for registrations is January 2, 2017. The goodies bag, containing a T-shirt, an information leaflet, a BIB number unique to each participant and RFID chip, can be collected between January 4 th to 6th, 2017 from the designated counter at Kalinga Stadium.

Ananta Kishore Jena, Director-cum- Additional Secretary of Sports and Youth Services department, along with Sunil Bhaskaran, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, Manikanta Naik, Chief Resident Executive, Tata Steel, Bhubaneswar, Kulvin Suri, Chief, Corporate Communications, Tata Steel, India & SEA and other senior officials of the company were also present on this occasion.
