Suspected thief caught, tonsured, paraded in Balasore
Balasore: In yet another case of mob justice, local people took to inhuman ways to punish a person, suspecting him to be a thief, here in Balasore district on Sunday.
The incident occurred near Nuabazar vegetable market under the Sahadevkhunta police limits after a vendor’s bicycle got stolen from the market.
After catching hold of the suspected thief, locals tied his hands and shaved his head. Adding to the humiliation, they removed his shirt and wrote ‘Mu Chora’ (I am thief) on his chest and back and forcibly paraded him on the roads of the town.
However, while the accused was being paraded around, onlookers were seen capturing visuals of this inhuman act but none turned to help the man, neither did anyone make effort to call police.
No case has been registered in this matter yet.
