Suspected child thieves caught, beaten black and blue
Mayurbhanj: Two suspected child thieves were allegedly beaten black and blue by the locals here in Kuldiha village under Kaptipada police limits of the district today afternoon.
According to sources, the duo handed two Rs 100 notes to two kids of the village and asked them to go to a market through the fields along with them. Soon after the villagers noticed this, they suspected something fishy and caught hold of the duo.
Irate villagers intervened and questioned them but after failing to get any satisfactory answer, they thrashed the duo mercilessly suspecting them of being child thieves. Even the women from the village got involved in thrashing.
Upon getting information, local police rushed to the spot and rescued the duo.
Meanwhile, villagers alleged that the duo was some days ago detained by people of nearby Hathimada village after they found them moving around in the village.
“Investigation is on into the incident. After an interrogation, we will ascertain the motive behind why they were moving in the village,” a police official said
