State seeks World Bank help for more projects
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today sought the help of World Bank in technical education, skill development and employment generation projects in the state. A 9-member team of executive directors of World Bank met the chief minister and chief secretary on Wednesday and held discussions on these issues.
“The State government has proposed a few projects to World Bank in higher education and skill development in handloom and handicraft sectors. These two projects were put up for the consideration of World Bank. We have urged them to take these two projects forward and finance them. Moreover, it will be better for Odisha if the World Bank can undertake more projects next year which are funded under concessional finance mechanism,” said chief secretary Aditya Padhi.
Notably, the World Bank is already assisting Odisha government in irrigation, healthcare, energy reforms and reconstruction of cyclone affected areas.
