South-west monsoon to hit Odisha early June

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience rains triggered by the south-west monsoon in first week of June, said the meteorological office here today.

Informing about the monsoon onset, Regional Meteorological Centre director Sarat Chandra Sahu stated conditions for the onset of monsoon is favourable as understood from the model of formations over the Bay of Bengal.

Quantity of rains will increase in the State after the first of June, he predicted.

The monsoon will hit Kerala coast by May 30, forecast the meteorological office.

The heatwave conditions accompanied by hot wind and humidity seem to prevail in the State till the end of this month, Sahu added.
