Rs 1,000 notes of Rs 30 L seized from Renault Duster; 2 detained

Bhubaneswar: Two persons including a woman were detained by the Commissionerate Police today evening in Saheed Nagar area here for carrying old Rs 1,000 currency notes of Rs 30 lakh in a Renault Duster vehicle.

The two persons, identified as Sumanta Pradhan and Mamata Behera of Alasa village of Satyabadi in Puri district, were detained for questioning on the motive behind carrying Rs 1,000 notes of Rs 30 lakh in the Renault Duster bearing registration number OD33J8131 in Saheed Nagar.

Sources said prime accused managed to escape during the police raid.

A bundle of Rs 2,000 currency notes was also seized along with Rs 1,000 notes of Rs 30 lakh from the Renault Duster.


The sources added the vehicle is owned by Ganapati Behera, a resident of Kalasandhapur of Aska.
