President to stay at Circuit House instead of Puri Raj Bhavan
Puri: During his two-day Odisha visit, President Ram Nath Kovind will stay at Special Circuit House instead of the Raj Bhavan in Puri which is in a dilapidated condition.
Though Raj Bhavan which was constructed in 1913-14 is a heritage site, it is in a precarious condition which is why the circuit house has been chosen as the place for President Kovind’s night stay during his visit to Puri.
“As Raj Bhavan has been declared unsafe we are making proper arrangements at the Special Circuit House for president’s stay”, said PWD executive engineer Niroj Kumar Dash.
“The renovation and construction work of Raj Bhavan is underway,” he added.
President Kovind will reach Puri on March 17 and is scheduled visit Srimandir on March 18 at 7.30 AM to have darshan of the three deities.
President Kovind is also scheduled to attend the centenary celebration of Rastriya Sanskruta Sansthan in Puri on March 18.
“Ahead of the visit elaborate security arrangements will be made and special attention will also be given to the cleanliness in the area. During his visit darshan of deities by the general public will be barred between 6:30 – 8:30 AM,” said Puri Collector Arvind Agarwal.
