Passersby ignore cry for help as stabbed pregnant Odia woman bleeds to death
Surat/Bhubaneswar: In another act of inhuman conduct, a husband’s cry for help fell into deaf ears of onlookers as his stabbed pregnant wife bled to death in Pandesara area near Surat in Gujarat.
The victim, identified as Anita hails from Odisha and was married to Dharmesh, who is from Gujurat. The incident occurred on Sunday when Anita was attacked with a knife by a miscreant while travelling with her husband.
The visuals captured showed the husband desperately crying for help to get an ambulance arranged for his injured wife. However, with no help coming from the passersby, Anita bled to death in the arms of her husband. What is even more inhuman is the fact that the visuals have been captured by someone on the mobile phone standing beside the couple without offering help.
Surprisingly, the miscreant, who had attacked Anita, has been found out to be her brother-in-law. Police suspect property-related dispute to be the reason behind the attack.
“The accused person was always asking for his share in property and was threatening Anita to leave the house and go. That is the reason why he targeted Anita,” said one of Anita’s relatives.
“A case has been registered by Pandesara police of Surat city. Investigations revealed that the woman was murdered by her brother-in-law over some property dispute. The accused is absconding and investigation is on,” said Surat DCP MS Bhavor.
