Panchayat Polls: BJP levels serious charges against top cop, urges SEC to relieve him
Bhubaneswar: The BJP has brought serious allegations against Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Binayananda Jha of showing undue favours to ruling BJD in the ongoing three-tier panchayat polls in Odisha in gross violation of the model code of conduct.
A delegation of the party led by BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma took up the matter with the State Election Commission (SEC) here today.
“Jha is one of the members of the 4-member coterie of the “Third Floor” under whose direction police has been tormenting the BJP workers and leaders across Odisha. While some of our party workers and leaders have been beaten up black and blue, others have been physically and mentally harassed by the police. He is also giving adequate protection to the anti-socials. Since the ADG is dancing to the tune of the “Third Floor”, we have urged the SEC to seriously consider this case and take necessary action by directing the Home department to immediately relieve him from his duty at the earliest,” Sharma said.
