Youth held for circulating fake Rs 2000 notes in Jharsuguda
Jharsuguda: Police detained a youth for allegedly circulating fake notes of Rs 2000 denomination here on Sunday night.
Sources said two persons came on a motorcycle to a petrol pump at Sunarimunda and filled petrol in the bike. Later, one of them, Madhusudan Meher, gave a Rs 2000 currency note to the petrol pump staff. Suspecting the note to be a fake one, the staff showed it to their owner, who found it fake. They later informed the matter to police.
After reaching the spot, the police verified the note and took Meher to police station for interrogation.
“The note is a colour xerox of an original Rs 2000 note. A case has registered at the Jharsuguda police station and investigation is underway,” said SI A Dansena.
