Odisha Assembly adjourned again as stalemate continues

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly was on Saturday adjourned the House till 3 pm following sloganeering from both Opposition and ruling parties MLAs over different issues.

While Opposition MLAs protested against the BJD government over the chit fund scam, the ruling party legislators demanded immediate release of Hudhud and Phailin aid from the Centre.

BJP MLAs showed posters and placards seeking an apology from Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy in presence of CM Naveen Patnaik in the House over the alleged misbehave with Brajarajnagar legislator Radharani Panda.

As soon as the question hour began today, both ruling and Opposition parties MLAs stormed into the well of the House with posters showing their respective demands and shouted slogans.

Meanwhile, the Brajarajnagar MLA continued her dharna near the Speaker’s podium.

Unable to run the House the Speaker Niranjan Pujari adjourned the House till 11.30 am initially and then till 12.30 pm. Again when the House assembled, there was no change in situation. The State Assembly was adjourned till 3 pm.

The Speaker called for an all-party meeting to break the deadlock, but it remains inconclusive.

“Representatives of the political parties will meet again in afternoon,” the Speaker told media.

Leader of Opposition Narasimha Mishra wrote a letter to CM seeking his intervention to find solution to end the stalemate.
