Odia youth dies in Dubai; family seeks admin help to bring back body
Ganjam: Family members of a youth of Ganjam district who was killed at a construction site in United Arab Emirates last week have sought government’s help in bringing back the body for last rites.
As per sources, one Ranjan Jena of Bikramapur village under Khallikote police limits had gone to work for a construction company in Dubai. On February 22, while working at the site he fell from a building and died after his belt snapped.
Later, Banamali Pahan, the agent who took Jena to Dubai informed the family members about his death through a letter.
Following the incident Jena’s family members lodged a written complaint at Khalikhote police station.
But even though a week has passed since his death, Jena’s family members are yet to get his body back.
Subash Chandra Sahu, a relative of the deceased youth said, “We demand that the government should bring back the dead body as soon as possible and also help us claim necessary compensation from the company.”
Meanwhile, local authorities have said that every attempt shall be made to hand over the youth’s body to his family members.
Additional Tehsildar, Surendra Kumar Sahu said, “It is a very saddening incident. We will apprise the collector about the incident and hope that the body can be brought back soon.”
