NIT sexual harassment: Students continue protest
Rourkela: The dharna launched by the National Institute of Technology (NIT) students in Rourkela demanding the arrest of the chief security officer (CSO) of the premier institute Balaram Champatiray, against whom sexual harassment charges have been leveled, continued on Sunday.
The agitating students also expressed their dissatisfaction over the complaint filed by the NIT officials against the CSO.
Notably on May 25, students of NIT, Rourkela caught Champatiray groping a woman security officer inside his office.
The students, who photographed Champatiray in the act, have launched a protest alleging sexual harassment of the subordinates by the CSO. Tthe students have alleged that Champatiray has harassed more than a dozen women working under him.
Protesting students have demanded arrest of Champatiray and an inquiry into the whole incident.
