Nilagiri minor girl rape: Involvement of local MLA’s nephew alleged
Bhubaneswar: The rape of a 4-year-old girl in Nilagiri in Balasore district is turning out to be a major political issue in the State with BJP MLA from Remuna, Govinda Das alleging involvement of a relative of the local BJD MLA in the incident.
Das alleged that the nephew of Nilagiri MLA Sukanta Nayak is involved in the rape of the four-year-old girl in Nilagiri yesterday. He further alleged that since Nayak is a BJD leader, the State Government has remained silent and not taking any action.
On the other hand, Nayak refuted the allegation and said there is no political pressure from anywhere and strong action should be taken against the culprit.
“I got to know about the incident from news channels. Police are investigating the incident and law will take its own course. Strong action should be taken against the persons involved in the incident,” Sukant Nayak said.
Meanwhile, officials of the District Child Protection Committee have taken the rape survivor to hospital for medical examination.
While the incident triggered widespread condemnation from all quarters, police are still on the lookout to nab the accused, who is absconding following the incident.
It may be mentioned here that a 24-year-old youth, who happens to be the minor girl’s neighbour, lured her with some chocolates and later raped her at Baunsabania village in Nilagiri.
