Ailing Minaketan gets financial help from Odisha govt, Ollywood
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government and the Odia Cine Artists’ Association today extended financial assistance to veteran Ollywood actor Minaketan, who is battling with cancer and undergoing treatment at a Mumbai-based hospital.
While the Culture Department handed over Rs 1 lakh cheque to his wife Kanchanbala, the Odisha Cine Artists’ Association also donated another Rs 1 lakh for his treatment later in the day.
“His wife Kanchanbala had submitted a letter to us today, based on which the government decided to grant Rs 1 lakh for his treatment,” said Odisha Culture Minister, Ashok Chandra Panda.
Secretary of Odisha Cine Artists’ Association, Kuna Tripathy, said, “We are also applying to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and will divert some money from the funds of our association. We are also trying to contact some corporate houses to lend their financial support to the ailing actor”
Secretary of Odisha Cine Critic Association, Dilip Hali, added, “Associations of Film Technicians, Cine Artists and Producers will also extend financial assistance in coming days.”
It may be mentioned here that the actor was earlier admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. After ultrasound and endoscopy, excessive sodium erosion from his body was established. After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he was shifted to Asian Cancer Institute in Mumbai.
He is currently receiving treatment under the guidance of cancer specialist Dr Suresh Advani.
“His condition is critical but stable following treatment. As the cancer is at an advanced stage, God’s grace is our only hope,” said Minaketan’s sister Runi.
