Maoists kill three men in Khunti district

Ranchi: Three persons were killed by suspected Maoists in separate incidents in Jharkhand`s Khunti district while two can bombs were recovered on the borders of Ranchi-Khunti district, police said here today.

Three masked men barged into the house of Iswari Tuti at Marangada village and shot him dead last evening after branding him as a police `informer`, Khunti Superintendent of Police Manoj Kaushik told PTI over phone. He, however, denied reports that Tuti was appointed as a special police officer.

In a separate incident at Raja Bazaar in Khunti, a headless body was recovered yesterday, according to police sources. A note left by the Maoists identified him as Sukram Munda and claimed responsibility for his killing because what they alleged Munda`s involvement in murder, rape and robbery in the area, the sources said. The police has recovered the torso and were searching to locate the head.

Another body was found near Naditola of the same district last night, sources said adding the unidentified man`s head was crushed by a stone. The police suspect involvement of the Maoists.

In a joint search operation by the CRPF and the Ranchi district police, two can bombs weighing 40 kg and 10 kg was recovered from Gajmara-tolsadih on the borders yesterday.
