Liquor unit manager killed by dacoits

Bolangir: A manager of a liquor unit was killed and four others were injured in an attack by some armed dacoits at Patrapalli under Khaprakhol block in the district last night.

The dacoits barged into the manufacturing unit and asked the staff to hand over the treasury key. When Manager Nikhilesh Meheta and others resisted them and refused to give the keys to them, a scuffle ensued between the two sides. Later, the miscreants attacked them with an iron rod and looted valuables and money from the unit before fleeing.

The injured staff called the owner of the industry over phone, who rushed to the spot and rescued all of them. He immediately took them to the hospital for treatment. However, the critically injured manager succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital. The others are under medical supervision.

Local police have registered a case in this regard and launched a manhunt to nab the criminals.
