Lawyers cease work in Orissa High Court
Cuttack: High court lawyers have staged cease-work demanding recruitment of judges for the posts lying vacant in the High Court here on Friday.
According to reports, they ceased their work from lunch session on Thursday and have not joined back work yet.
As per the allegation of the protesting lawyers, the number of judges in the High Court is much less then the sanctioned strength and many posts of the judges are lying vacant.
As per reports, the sanctioned strength of the High Court is 27 but only 18 posts have been filled.
Without filling the vacant posts of the High Court the administration is transferring judges, alleged advocates.
Meanwhile, after the transfer of another judge the strength of judges has come down to 17 in the High Court.
