Jaundice cases rise in Cuttack; 10 more test positive

Cuttack: Jaundice seems to have spread its tentacles in Nuasahi area in Jobra of the Millennium city. The number of affected persons, which was 27 yesterday, climbed up to 37 on Sunday after the 10 more persons were tested positive.

The alarming situation has forced the authorities to step up preventive measures across the city.

According to sources, the district administration has formed 20 squads to raise awareness among the people about the preventive measures against the water borne disease.

The district administration has also all geared up to repair the old water supply pipes. If necessary, the old and damaged water supply pipes will be replaced with the new ones, said an official of district administration.

Besides, we have also opened 24-hour health service camps in the jaundice hit area and distributing halogen and tablets and ORS packets to prevent the spread of the disease, he added.
