Gurgaon police arrests three Odia youths for blackmailing woman
Bhubaneswar: The special squad of the Commissionerate Police on Thursday arrested three youths including two engineers on charges of blackmailing a young woman of Gurgaon and cheating her of Rs 3 lakh.
The city police nabbed the three youths after the Gurgaon police sought the help regarding the blackmailing case.
Satyabrata Bhoi, Bhubaneswar DCP, said, “The accused used to chat with the young woman online. He somehow managed to get nude pictures of the young lady and started blackmailing her.”
Bhoi added, “The three accused have been handed over to the Gurgaon police.”
The three arrested persons are identified Shaktidatta Samal, Sourav Prakash Nayak and Goutam.
Samal posed as the vice president of a private company and proposed to marry the girl on matrimonial site shaadi.com.
Having won her confidence, he then managed to get photographs and videos of some private moments of the lady and started blackmailing her. Besides, Samal also took Rs 3.1 lakh cash from the lady.
Following the complaint lodged by the lady, Gurgaon police sought the help of Special Squad of Commissionerate Police in nabbing the accused.
A team of Gurgaon Police and Special Squad of Commissionerate Police raided various places in the city before arresting the trio. The police also seized Rs 1.23 lakh and two mobile phones from their possession.
Naik, the main accused, said, “Wait, truth will come out. This was all created by media.”
Sourav, another accused, said, “As a friend, I had given my banking account number. I did not know he created a shaddi.com profile with the account number and got money from any girl. The police only told me about the blackmailing thing and I am facing this kind of situation. He had told me his father will send money so that he will open a business here.”
Goutam, another accused, said, “We knew Shaktidatta as innocent. However, he backstabbed us due to our close rapport with him.”
