Former minister’s son accused of swindling crores

Bhubaneswar: Teaching and non-teaching staffs of Barapada School of Engineering and Technology, Bhadrak on Tuesday alleged that former minister Prafulla Samal’s son Prayas Kanti Samal has swindled crores of rupees belonging to the educational institution.

Addressing a press meet here, they also alleged that despite several attempts, the police are not receiving their complaints.

“Prayas Kanti had constructed an engineering college in Kantabada area on the outskirts of the city using the money of our institution. Later, he sold the institution and embezzled the money. He has not informed anything regarding the Kantabada college to the management of the college,” Bijoy Kumar Rout of the institution stated.

“And the irony is that the police are not accepting our complaints. We demand a thorough probe in the matter,” he demanded.

Neither Prayas Kanti nor his father was available for comments.
