Condolences pour in for Rabi Ray
Cuttack: Tributes poured in for former Lok Sabha Speaker Rabi Ray with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Odisha Governor S.C. Jamir, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other eminent political leaders expressing condolences on his tragic demise.
Ray passed away at SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack here today at the age of 91.
In his tweet, Prime Minister Narendra said, “Saddened by demise of former LS Speaker Shri Rabi Ray. He made a mark as a committed leader & respected Parliamentarian. My condolences.”
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik described Ray’s death as a great loss as the country has lost a veteran socialist leader.
“Deeply saddened by the demise of Rabi Ray, former Lok Sabha Speaker & leader of national stature. Odisha has lost a worthy son,” Patnaik tweeted.
Similarly, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram along with MP Baijayant Panda, BJP Odisha Unit President Basant Panda, former cabinet minister Prafulla Ghadei and other leaders cutting across party lines expressed their condolences on the Ray’s death.
