Commissionerate Police issues safety guidelines for Diwali

Bhubaneswar: To avoid accidental mishaps and make the festival of lights-‘Diwali’ safe for all, Commissionerate Police on Monday issued safety directives for the upcoming festival.

The advisory stated various instructions to ensure safety during lighting lamps and burning crackers and fireworks.

The advisory stated that the purchase of fireworks should be done from a licensed shop and the safety precautions on it should be followed.

It further noted that children should not be allowed to use cracker independently but should use it only under supervision of an adult and first-aid box should be kept ready for quick treatment.

Commissionerate Police has strictly banned the use of cracker on animals and has issued notice not to use crackers that produce sound above 125db. Police have also urged people to avoid fireworks near schools, hospitals, residential areas or on crowded place for the convenience of patients and senior citizens.

The notice also includes helpline numbers of Police Control Room (Dial 100) and Fire Station (Dial 101) that people can use in case of an emergency.
