Coal secy reviews 15 MCL projects in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The Centre is examining Odisha’s request to grant cancelled coal blocks to State-owned PSUs and decision will be taken in this regard very soon, said Union coal secretary Anil Swarup today.
At a meeting with chief secretary GC Pati and other top State officials at Secretariat, Swarup while reviewing the status of different projects of MCL in Odisha, said steps are being taken to sort out the problems related to coal mines of MCL.
MCL, which produces 110 million tonne coal per annum, has aimed at raising production capacity to 200 million tonne, he said.
Similarly, the government has aimed at enhancing the coal production capacity through Coal India Ltd which produces 500 million tonne per annum currently. It will reach 1000 million tonne by 2019, Swarup added.
Expressing pleasure over the work of the rail line connecting different coal mines, the union secretary assured to complete the rail projects by December 2017.
