CM Naveen Patnaik announces hike in pension for artists
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Sunday announced an increase of Rs 200 in the pension amount of the 4000 artists of the State who were earlier getting Rs 1000.
The announcement came on the sideline of the inauguration ceremony of the 7th edition of folk dance and music festival at Utkal Mandap. Patnaik inaugurated the three-day long cultural extravaganza.
“I am glad that Nagar Kala and Sanskrit Sangha and the State-level Kala and Sanskrit Sangha lauched today. I hope they would achieve the desired results,” said Patnaik.
The inaugural evening of the festival featured jodi sanka (Ganjam), ghumura (Kalahandi), Paika akhada (Dhenkanal) and also other performances from Maharashtra.
Later, Patnaik felicitated collectors of Ganjam, Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Nabarangapur for their outstanding efforts towards encouraging and promoting art and culture.
Artists from as many as 30 districts of the State are participating in the dance and music fest that will be concluded on April 4.
