BJP to gherao Odisha Assembly on November 25

Bhubaneswar: Targeting the State government on its incompetence in tackling various issues, Odisha BJP has planned to gherao the State Assembly on November 25. At its State executive meet, the Saffron party also informed that it will launch a wall writing campaign to educate the public on various failures of the State government.

Moreover, the party will present allegation papers at the Panchayats on various issues.  The Odisha BJP members also approved the party’s political resolution in which emphasis has been laid on education, health, irrigation, law & order, ration card distribution, and irregularities in paddy procurement.

“In the coming days, the party has decided to launch a public awareness program in 6,800 panchayats through wall writing. Panchayat-wise allegation papers will be produced against the irregularities and negligence of the state government. The Panchayat gherao campaign will continue. On November 25, we have decided to gherao the Odisha Assembly with a huge contingent of BJP workers. Moreover, the party has decided to complete all the rallies and campaigns against the State government between October 15 and October 25,” said Odisha BJP president Basant Panda.

Responding to BJP’s announcement, BJD spokesperson Pratap Deb said, “This is only a political strategy ahead of the Panchayat elections. The people of Odisha have already realised what the BJP is saying and what it is doing. When there is a mismatch between the words and action, it is left to the people of Odisha to decide how far such announcements are acceptable.”
