BJP mistulising public money for publicity: BJD

Bhubaneswar: Launching an attack on the BJP government, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday accused it of spending crores of tax payers’ money on publicity for its three years’ completion at Centre.

Addressing a press conference, BJD general secretary Sanjay Das Burma today criticized the BJP of launching special programme for chronicling achievements of Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

Terming it as a complete ‘wastage of public money’, BJD said 45 companies have been forced to sponsor the programme and tour of several Union Ministers including Venkaiah Naidu and MP CM Shivraj Chouhan in Odisha.

BJP launched its Modi Fest programme from today.

“BJD will reach out to people and make them aware of such wastage of public money that the BJP is spending for its own publicity. The funds could have been utilised towards several welfare projects,” said Das Burma.

He further raised fingers at the BJP for pressuring several companies including NALCO, SAIL and MCL for backing out from the popular ‘Aahar’ Yojana in Odisha.

“The way several companies are using our mineral resources and helping India’s development, Odisha is only getting pollution in return. The companies are making crores of profit but they have now stepped out of Aahar Yojana of Odisha government which was aimed at providing meals at subsidized rates to poor and weaker sections,” added Burma.
