Bhubaneswar: Student unrest resulting in a law and order situation in Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) Autonomous College forced the college authorities to declare sine die today. Following the sine die declaration, the inmates have been asked to vacate the hostel immediately.

Earlier in the day, the students of the college staged a road blockade in front of the college protesting attack on hostel inmates by non-students last night. The students locked up the college gate blocked the Puri-Bhubaneswar road throwing traffic movement on the busy road out of gear.

Later on the situation turned violent after protesting students were lifted from the road blockade by police.

“The students entered the college and vandalised the premises. Following such violence, it was decided to declare the college sine die indefinitely. We will also try to resolve the matter in the meantime. We have had held discussions with the students earlier as a part of our efforts. The situation was under control till now. We will call the alumni including important alumni and we will definitely resolve the issue through the peace committee,” said the vice principal of BJB college, Rita Pati.
