Bhola Bhagat’s vehicle used in murder of Om, Dipu: Police

Cuttack: Exactly twenty two days after seizing a Scorpio vehicle registered in the name of Bhola Bhagat from here, the Commissionerate police on Tuesday confirmed that the vehicle was used to transport the bodies of Om and Dipu, the erstwhile henchmen of gangster brothers Sushant and Sunil Dhalasamanta.

This confirmation from the investigating officials came after Bhagat, spilled the beans during his interrogation about the sensational conspiracy hatched by the criminal siblings to eliminate Om and Dipu.

On February 29, the Commissionerate police had seized the vehicle, which was lying in an abandoned state, from College Square area here. After verifying the registration details, police had then suspected the vehicle was used in the murder of Om and Dipu.

Bhola Bhagat, who happens to be a business partner of the criminal siblings, is also an accused in the murder of Om and Dipu, who worked as sharpshooters for D-brothers.

On February 24, the police had seized a Honda City car in Sambalpur, which it claimed was used to transport the bodies of Om and Dipu from a farm house in Athgarh (Cuttack) to Jharkhand.

Though the officials are yet to give details about Bhagat’s role in the crime, they believe the latter must have knowledge about other criminal activities of the duo since he was associated with them since 1999.

During interrogation, Bhagat has also revealed that he was involved in tender fixing on the instructions of the criminal brothers. He also disclosed before the officials that Hyderabad-based waste collection and disposal agency Ramky Enviro Engineers Ltd was paying between Rs 3-4 lakh per month to the brothers as protection money. They were also collecting protection money from various business units in Cuttack area, police said.
