Baragarh bids tearful adieu to Sukma martyr

Baragarh: The last rites of Odia CRPF jawan Padmalochan Majhi, who was killed in the Maoist ambush in Sukma district of neighbouring Chhattisgarh, was performed at his native village Baradol in Baragarh district with full state honour.

Soon after Majhi’s mortal remains reached the town, local police and district administration gave him guard of honour at the Reserve Police ground here. District Collector Anjan Kumar Manik, SP Umasankar Das and Baragarh MLA Devesh Acharya paid last respect to the martyr.

Later, the body was taken to his ancestral village in a grand procession for funeral.

A group of armed Naxals attacked a CRPF team on Monday near Chintagufa, about 450 km from Raipur, in the dense forests in south Bastar region when the security personnel were returning to their camp after combing and area domination operation. As many as 14 jawans including Majhi were killed in the attack.
