Autorickshaw strike disrupts normal life in state
Bhubaneswar: Noraml life was affected in many parts of the state due to a dawn to dusk bandh called by the All Odisha Auto Chalaka Mahasangha protesting against the App-based on-line auto services on Thursday.
According to sources, as many as 1.5 lakh auto rickshaws will stay off the roads during the bandh today.
The Taxi Association is also supporting the bandh called by the auto rickshaw association, the sources added.
On April 21, Bhubaneswar Autorickshaw Mahasangha had staged a demonstration at PMG square here protesting against App-based on-line auto services in the capital city.
The agitating members of the union took out a rally from Master Canteen Square to PMG Square demanding the closure of online companies, which are providing App-based auto rickshaw services at cheaper price.
The members of the auto rickshaw body had also demanded cancellation of the licenses of the e-companies so that they are not able to provide the service.
