Agriculture & farmers top priority of government: CM
Odisha government has set up corpus funds of Rs 100 crore, each, for seeds and fertilizers, provides crop loan at 1 % interest rate, says Naveen
Pipili: The income of farmers in the state has increased by two times in the last 10 years, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik addressing a state-level farmers’ congregation held at Laxminarayanpur here to mark the Krushak Divas today.
Patnaik said according to a Union government report, the income of farmers in the state has increased by two times in the last 10 years. And, efforts are afoot to further increase their income in coming days.
Stating that development of agriculture and farmers have been the top priority of the state government, the CM said, ”The government has set up corpus funds of Rs 100 crore each, for seeds and fertilizers. Besides new agriculture policy and special budget for farmers, the government provides crop loan at one per cent interest rate.”
“Since the IMD has predicted good rains this year, I hope this would be good year for the farmers’ community,” he stated.
Besides, Minister Maharathy said the state government is considering on farm on loan waiver and life insurance of farmers in State.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister performed Muthi Anukula and Bhumi Puja. Around 10,000 farmers took part in the meeting. Among others, Food Supplies Minister Sanjay Dasburma spoke.
