Accused of mobile theft, student ends life in Kendrapara
Kendrapara: Shamed after being accused and humiliated for stealing a mobile phone, a student of a private residential college allegedly committed suicide in Kendrapara district.
The shocking incident sparked off resentment among other students who subsequently went on a rampage and ransacked property at Tagore Residential college at Duhuria.
The deceased has been identified as Anant Nayaran Parida, a +2 first year student at Tagore Residential College at Dhuria. He ended life by hanging himself in the hostel at around 1.20 pm today.
According to reports, the deceased Anant committed suicide allegedly after the principal of the college Babaji Charan Moharana accused and scolded him for stealing a mobile phone couple of days back.
Though college authorities had rushed Anant to the hospital after rescuing his body from the hostel room, he was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Following the incident, tension ran high in the college premises with irate students ransacking furniture and vehicles on the campus.
Tension also ran high at the hospital after the relatives and family members of the deceased student manhandled the college principal.
Kendrapada Sadar police sleuths rushed to the college and trying to pacify the angry students.
