Body of woman with throat slit found near Khurda

Khurda: Body of a woman with her throat slit was found near Tikatala on Khurda-Bolangir Road of national highway-57 under Begunia police limits of Khurda district today.

On being informed senior police officials reached the spot and have started an investigation.

As per reports, the deceased has been identified as Diptimayee Sethi of Bhoisahi in Bhubaneswar. The identity of the body was established after the woman’s husband Binod Sethi reached the spot.

During questioning, Binod told police that Diptimayee was working as an agent for an insurance company and so she used to tour a lot. She left home at around 2 PM yesterday.

Police sources suspect that Diptimayee could have been murdered at some other place and was dumped at the spot. Involvement of several persons cannot be ruled out, added police sources.

The police have constituted two teams to probe the murder case. Besides, a scientific team also visited the spot for further investigation.

Following the incident, locals staged a road blockade which disrupted vehicular movement on the highway for some time. Normalcy was restored after Begunia Police held discussions with agitators.
