Rourkela: Body of the class IX student, who went missing after falling into Koel River from Jharipani bridge in Rourkela of Sundergarh district earlier on Thursday, was recovered from the river near Pradhanpali this morning.

Some locals reportedly spotted the body of Nilesh Dash floating in Koel River and informed the police and Fire personnel, who rushed to the spot and fished out the body.

While mystery still shrouds the minor boy's death, his father Nirmal Chandra Dash alleged that he died because of a girl. "There was no disturbance in our family. I think a girl and some of her friends in the school forced him to take such an extreme step. I request the police to conduct a fair investigation into the matter and the guilty should be punished," alleged Nirmal.

Rourkela DSP Jyotirmaya Bhukta, meanwhile, informed that investigation into the matter is underway. "As per the FIR, we have registered a missing case. However, our investigation is also underway based on the allegations of the complainant," said the DSP.

Nilesh, a ninth class student of a private English medium school reportedly fell off the bridge on Thursday and was untraceable since. His bicycle and school bag were found abandoned on the bridge.
