Angul: BJP activists today showed black flags to Health Minister Pratap Jena protesting poor condition of healthcare services at several hospitals in the Pallahara Assembly constituency.

Hundreds of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists took to streets and tried to stop the carcade of the health minister near Khamar Bazaar here to hold discussion on absence of doctors and lack of infrastructure at various hospitals in the town.

"We tried to talk to the minister and apprise him about the healthcare woes of our town but he did not stop. A few irate locals waived black flags to show protest," said a BJP leader.

The Minister was on his way to attend a programme of Biju Yuva Vahini.

In another related development, students of Subhadra Mahatab college in Nischintakoili staged a dharna accusing the Health Minister of stalling developmental works at the institution.

Earlier on May this year, a group of social activists showed black flags to the minister ruing poor healthcare services in Angul.
