Kendrapara: The ongoing resentment over selection of candidates within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has now spilled to Kendrapara with locals opposing the candidature of Bijay Pradhan from Mahakalpada Assembly constituency.

At a protest meeting organised at Akhandalmani temple premises at Kusunpur, the candidature of Bijay Pradhan was opposed. Sources said BJP workers of 48 panchayats attended the protest meeting.

Apart from Pradhan, the candidature of Bijoy Mohapatra from Patkura Assembly segment and Baijayant Panda from Kendrapara Lok Sabha seat was also opposed, informed sources. The workers are demanding that the party should reconsider its decision on the candidature of Bijay Pradhan from Mahakalpada Assembly segment.

Gagan Bihari Das, BJP leader from Mahakalpada on the other hand stated that the protest meeting was not organised by any BJP member.

“It is a conspiracy by the opponents. People in the district don't want to be governed by an actor. Many people are spreading rumours against our LS and Assembly candidates. Any disciplined worker of BJP will not resort to such protest meetings,” said Das.
