Dhenkanal: Normal life has been paralysed in Bhuban area of the district following a 12-hour bandh by the BJP Yuva Morcha over eight-point charter of demands on Friday.

Vehicular movement on National Highway-53 came to a grinding halt due to the bandh as members of the BJP Yuva Morcha staged a road blockade at Kalibazar Chhak early in the morning whereas some other agitators were seen picketing at different parts of the town.

Schools, markets and business establishments remained closed during the shutdown. However, emergency services have been exempted from the bandh, reports stated.

The BJP Yuva Morcha of Bhuban Nagar Mandal staged the strike to press for establishment of a permanent stadium in the area and sub-division status to the block.

The agitators also demanded repairing and widening of all roads under Bhuban NAC and construction of a concrete road from Anantapur to Bata Tarini Chhak.

Meanwhile, the district administration has taken adequate security measures to avoid any untoward incident.
