Boudh: Normal life has been affected in Boudh district due to a dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the BJP Yuva Morcha today over three-point charter of demands. The activists were seen picketing on highways and in front of several government offices since early morning.

One of their long standing demands has been recruitment of adequate staff nurse at the district hospitals. The protestors have also opposed the decision of closure of paddy mandis as well as the delay in start of Khurda-Bolangir rail work in Boudh district.

Vehicular movement was heavily disrupted after the protestors staged a road blockade by burning tyres. Besides, markets, business establishments, educational institutions, courts and other government offices have remained closed due to the bandh. However, emergency services were exempted from the shutdown.

The activists threatened that they would continue the protests for an indefinite period if their demands are not met at the earliest.

Meanwhile, adequate security measures have been taken by the concerned district authorities to avoid any untoward incident and maintain law and order situation in the district. As per reports, police have also taken district BJP Yuva Morcha president and two other activists  into preventive custody.
