Bhubaneswar: Even as his party failed to retain its earlier position in the ongoing urban local body (ULB) elections in Odisha, BJP president Rajnath Singh today expressed confidence that they would perform well in the ensuing general elections.

"We will certainly perform well in the coming general elections," Singh told reporters here during his visit to the state.

Stating that the party has a specific strategy for Odisha, Singh said, "We will certainly win confidence of the people as the voters here understand the ground reality."

Asked to reveal the strategy, Singh said, "I can not reveal it now. Every party has its own strategy.

Replying to a question on the multi-crore mining scam in the state, Singh said, "The state government's tenure will come to an end after few months. So, there is no point discussing this. When we will come to power, that is after the next election, we will initiate an inquiry.
