Bhubaneswar: Apprehending violence during polling for the 66 urban local bodies (ULBs) tomorrow in 20 districts of Odisha, the BJP today asked the State Election Commission to prevent possible booth capturing allegedly by the supporters of the ruling BJD.

"We anticipate that tomorrow's poll will witness booth capture by the goons of the ruling party. This election will not be conducted in a fair manner. Till now, the high office of the SEC could not assure a level playing field for the parties. However, we expect that at least tomorrow the poll will be conducted in an orderly manner with no violations," said Odisha BJP in a letter to the SEC.

The party also accused the SEC of acting in a partisan manner in giving a clean-chit to the violators belonging to the ruling BJD.

BJP state president K V Singhdeo alleged the party candidates were harassed by the ruling BJD supporters and leaders while the SEC observers were silent spectators.
