Cuttack: In a bid to woo voters, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today announced that BJP will provide food articles at Rs 1 if the party is voted to power in Odisha.

"If the BJP comes to power in Odisha, it will provide 5 kg rice, 500 grams dal salt at Rs 1. Nearly, 3.26 crore beneficiaries under the National Food Security Scheme (NFSA) will be benefited," Pradhan said while addressing an election rally in Choudwar.

Apart from this, the union minister also assured 24-hour water and electricity supply, hike in pension for widows to Rs 2000 and hike in salary of Anganwadi workers to Rs 15,000 per month.

Pradhan also took a dig at the State government for taking credit of providing rice at the price of Rs 1 per kilogram.

"For the rice worth Rs 32 per kilogram, the central government is providing Rs 29 while the state government is contributing only Rs 2 and Rs 1 is being taken from the beneficiary," Pradhan said.

Responding to Pradhan, BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty said, "This schemes and facilities have not been implemented in any of the BJP-ruled states. This is the biggest lie of 2019 elections."
