Jharsuguda: Opposing non-utilisation of District Mineral Foundation funds for development of Brajarajnagar, local BJP MLA Radharani Panda today staged a protest by holding 'churi' (bangles) near Jharsuguda by pass ahead of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's visit to district for foundation stone laying of several projects.

Panda said that she has boycotted the chief minister's government function at Amalipali ground protesting the State government's negligent attitude towards the development of their area.

"About 65% of the DMF fund should be spent for the development of Brajarajnagar and we demand that the chief minister should look into it," she said.

Meanwhile, police have taken 20 BJP activists into preventive custody at Badamal and Brajarajnagar police stations ahead of the CM's Jharsuguda visit.

As per reports, Patnaik will attend the government function at the Amalapli ground to lay foundation stone of a slew projects and later will attend a party programme in the district.

On the other hand, more than 20 BJP activists were taken into preventive custody while trying to burn effigies of the CM in front of Bolangir Collectorate ahead of the latter's visit to the district. A minor scuffle also ensued between the saffron party activists and police.

It is worth mentioning that the BJD is organising the Anchalika Biju Yuva Vahini Samabesh in Bolangir at the Rajendra College ground today which will be attended by as many as 30,000 youths from four districts.
