BJP Mahila Morcha alleges hooliganism by BJD workers during demonstration

Cuttack: Members of BJP Mahila Morcha were allegedly attacked by BJD workers at Jignipur village under Nischintakoili block of Cuttack district today while they were attempting to burn the effigies of Law Minister Pratap Jena and chief minister Naveen Patnaik to protest disruption of rituals in Puri Srimandir.

A written complaint has been filed in this regard at Salepur Police Station. According to sources, complaint has been filed against representatives of Jignipur Sarpanch and Zilla Parishad.

As per allegations, a few BJD workers snatched the effigies of Naveen Patnaik and Pratap Jena and allegedly attacked the agitating members of BJP Mahila Morcha.

“If the persons responsible for the hooliganism are not arrested within 24 hours, we are going to burn effigies of Law minister in every panchayat of the district,” said Cuttack BJP Mahila Morcha secretary, Jagyaseni Jena.

Meanwhile, BJD workers have also filed counter charges at the local police station. On the other hand, BJD’s Cuttack district vice-president, Ramesh Jena denied the involvement of BJD workers in the incident.

“As far as I know about the incident, no BJD workers are involved. The incident might be the result of infighting within BJP workers,” Jena said.

Police is investigating the matter, but no arrests have been made yet, said sources.
