Bhubaneswar: Seeking an independent probe on the properties of Naveen Patnaik both in Haryana and Delhi, BJP on Tuesday alleged that the Odisha chief minister had made an "undervalue" statement in the property list released recently.

"While Patnaik showed that value of his properties was about Rs 12 crore, it could be something around Rs 200 crore," claimed BJP state vice-president and party spokesman Ashok Sahu at a press conference here.

Sahu said that the Patnaik has showed his farm land and building over 22.7 acre of land at village Tikrikhera, Sohna Road, Faridabad district of Haryana at only Rs 3.34 crore.

He claimed that the actual value of the property in Haryan was much more than Rs 3.34 crore and demanded an independent body should assess the actual value of the property in Haryana.

The BJP state vice-president further alleged that the actual value of the chief minister`s house at 3 Aurangzeb Road in New Delhi, his house in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was much more than what Patnaik has shown in the property statement.

Sahu demanded a clarification from the chief minister on the reasons behind showing "undervaluation" to his properties.

A Chief Minister Office (CMO) spokesman, however, on November 6 had claimed that the value of Patnaik`s properties increased as the governments of Haryana and Delhi increased the rates of properties in their respective states in the last two years.
