Bhubaneswar: A team of Odisha BJP legislators on Tuesday visited the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) and demanded an independent audit of money being used in the State government's Biju Yuva Vahini and Ama Gaon Ama Vikash programmes.

The team reportedly submitted a memorandum to the CAG alleging that government's money is being used for the programmes violating constitutional norms.

"We have submitted a memorandum to the CAG demanding a special audit of the two programmes of the State government as money is being spent through them violating all the constitutional provisions," said KV Singhdeo, BJP's Legislature Party leader.

Reacting to BJP's allegations, BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra said BJP is scared and demanding an audit of the government's money is laughable.

"Why is the BJP so scared? As the villages in the State are witnessing development under Biju Yuba Vahini and Ama Gaon Ama Vikash programmes of the State government, the BJP is in a state of panic. All the allegations of the saffron party are false and baseless," said Patra.

He also took a jibe at the BJP and said that the party should have basic knowledge that audit is done for every single penny of government.
