Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today came down heavily on CM Naveen Patnaik and Odisha government over an advertisement on allocation of pucca houses to 20 lakh people in the State.

Addressing a press meet, party spokesperson Golak Mohapatra accused the State government of presenting false facts while questioning the advertisement on allocation of pucca houses to Odisha people.

“On September 11, 2018, Panchayati Raj Minister Pradeep Maharathy at the Assembly had said that the State Government has constructed 3.77 lakh houses. The rest 16.23 lakh houses have been constructed following implementation of various schemes of the Centre. He had also provided a list with details of how many houses have been built under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana, Mo Kudia Yojana, and how many were constructed under Khanij Yojana, the total being 3.77 lakh,” Mohapatra said.

The BJP leader then questioned, “If they themselves had clarified on September 11 last year that 3.77 lakh houses have been built, on what basis are they claiming through advertisements that 20 lakh houses have been allocated?they are also saying that the Geo-tagging of these houses is also complete. If anyone wants to check the facts, they will find that the geo-tagged houses were constructed almost 10-15 years back.”

Further taking a jibe at Naveen Patnaik, Mohapatra said, “Everyone knows that the chief of BJD is a habitual liar and as usual he is handing out bunch of lies to people of Odisha through such ads."

In response to this, BJD Spokesperson Sasmit Patra said, “The Centre has accepted that 20 lakh houses were constructed by Odisha government. And Odisha is being awarded with the Best State by the same Central Government. Then why is BJP questioning now?”
