Paradip: The BJP has brought allegations of monopoly against the ruling-BJD in the affairs of Paradip Municipality and irregularities in allocation of works by the civic body for the upcoming Kalinga Baliyatra in the town.

Accusing the BJD of the same, the saffron party workers have been protesting in front of the Paradip Municipality office since Friday.

The protestors demand the district Collector to initiate an investigation into the allegations brought by them and take stringent action against the executive officer of the municipality.

The BJP has also lodged a complaint against the executive officer and chairman of the municipality at the Paradip Police Station, said reports.

On the other hand, refuting the allegations, thousands of BJD workers took out a rally in the town against the saffron party.

The BJD leaders said that as the Kalinga Baliyatra is being organised by the Jagatsinghpur district administration, the party has nothing to do with it.

“When a political party is already sitting on protest at a particular place, how could a district administration and police department allow another party to launch a rally from the same place,” said Secretary of Jagatsinghpur BJP Yuva Morcha, Sampad Swain adding that there is a nexus between the BJD and the police department.

Secretary of BJD unit of Paradip, Basant Biswal said, “This is a plan of the BJP to stop the historic Kalinga Baliyatra in Paradip by unnecessarily involving the municipality. They have launched a protest outside the municipality office by hiring some people, who do not even have their names in the voter list of Paradip.”
