Phulbani: At least 15 activists of opposition BJP were on Thursday arrested on charge of showing black flags to chief minister Naveen Patnaik at Baliguda, 87 km from here, in Kandhamal district.

The incident took place at the helipad at Baliguda while Patnaik was on his way back to K Nuagaon, another venue of the chief minister`s meeting.

Shouting anti-government solgans, the BJP activists rushed towards the chopper where they were rounded up by the police. They accused Patnaik of shielding culprits of dal scam and mining scam.

Patnaik visited Baliguda to lay foundation stone for new blood bank building and a town hall. The chief minister inagurated a tehsil office at K Nuagaon and an extension ward of the district headquarters hospital here.

The chief minister also attended the golden jubilee celebration of Government Autonomous College, Phulbani.

Addressing the students, Patnaik said that the state government was concerned about the education of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe students.
